JM Sorge, Inc. (JMS) was retained to prepare an expert report using all available data to calculate the quantity of oil released in the vicinity of the Solomon Smith Barney, Inc. (SSB) standby diesel generator tanks formerly located underground at building 7 World Trade Center.

Since various data gaps were present in the available record provided by the consultants for SSB and the building owner; JMS utilized a Monte Carlo analysis methodology to account for imprecisely known variables. The Monte Carlo methodology allowed the use of realistic variable ranges to estimate the volume of residual oil present within the various impacted media at the site as well as in the waste materials previously removed from the site.

JMS subsequently provided a supplemental rebuttal report addressing two reports prepared by experts retained by SSB. The case is currently pending.
