Multiple Private Insurance Carriers
Insurance Claim Management and Oversight - Various NJ Sites
JM Sorge, Inc (JMS) provides environmental consulting services to private insurance carriers throughout New Jersey. Costs associated with many environmental claims are unique to site specific conditions, widely variable, and often subjective. The assessment and oversight activities conducted by JMS help streamline the remedial process, and ensure that services are conducted in a cost effective and timely manner. JMS’ services include evaluation of environmental conditions with respect to liability under the insurance policy by completing groundwater and soil investigation activities. JMS conducts oversight of environmental contractors, interacts with the insured, provides and reviews remedial cost estimates and schedules, negotiates with consultants and contractors, and reviews and/or prepares technical documents for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP).
Most projects include the completion of a soil and groundwater investigation at the property to determine if contamination at the property has extended onto adjacent properties or has impacted groundwater (third party impacts). JMS also often conducts forensic age dating investigations to establish a timeline of the discharge from the underground storage tank.
Once coverage has been determined, JMS conducts delineation sampling to determine the extent of contamination and facilitate remedial action strategy and cost estimate. JMS works in conjunction with the insured’s selected contractor to remediate the site. JMS provides detailed reviews of the contractor’s remediation plan and cost estimates for regulatory compliance, appropriateness of the remedial approach, and conformance with industry standard pricing. Once approved, JMS conducts detailed oversight of all aspects of remediation, including the installation of structural support, soil excavation activities, and post excavation sampling. This ensures that corners are not cut, and work does not have to be done twice.
JMS also provides groundwater investigation and remediation services including the installation and sampling of monitoring wells, Enhanced Fluid Recovery (EFR) events, and other groundwater remediation, as necessary. JMS collects potable well water samples as required, and has a NJ licensed well driller on staff to comply with NJ regulations. We also review and/or prepare the technical reports for submittal to the NJDEP and we monitor the project until final site closure is achieved.
