Underground Storage Tank Services

JMS has been providing Underground Storage Tank (UST) services for over 20 years.   A release from a UST can cause contamination problems for the property owner and create a cleanup responsibility that can run into many thousands of dollars. JMS provides technical and regulatory expertise to assist clients in managing the environmental risks inherent to USTs.  The regulatory compliance experience of our company ranges from clearing improperly closed tanks to the closure of special hazardous substance tanks.  The JMS staff has experience ranging from single tank projects to large multi-tank closures. Our expert staff consistently assists clients in bringing UST projects to closure on schedule and within budget. JMS is certified by the NJDEP in tank closure and subsurface evaluation and maintains the required UST certifications as appropriate.

Unregulated Heating Oil Tank (UHOT) Program

The Unregulated Heating Oil Tank (UHOT) Program allows pre-qualified environmental professionals to investigate and remediate certain low risk unregulated heating oil tanks, including residential heating oil tanks, with limited NJDEP oversight, in order to expedite case closure. JMS currently employs nine UHOT certified professionals. JMS has extensive experience identifying UHOT eligible cases and working through this program in order to attain expedited No Further Action letters and case closure approval.

UST Fund

The UST Fund provides loans and grants to eligible owners and operators of Regulated and Unregulated petroleum USTs to help finance costs for the upgrade and closure of regulated USTs and remediation of discharges from regulated and unregulated USTs. These funds are available for both residential and commercial properties. JMS has extensive experience identifying cases that are eligible for the UST Fund and completing all the necessary applications in order to attain the most appropriate funding.
